UML Use Case Diagram Lecture

I gave the following lecture few weeks ago in the “Analysis and Specification” course at the Technion. It concerns UML Use Case diagrams, which are one of my favorite. They are used to model requirements, using a mixture of semi-formal diagrams and semi-structured text. Its all very “semi”, but that’s what makes them useful. I was affected by Alistair Cockburn’s book “Writing Effective Use Cases” in the method for use-cases writing.

Here is the agenda of the lecture:

  1. Introduction to UML
  2. Use Case: The Diagram
  3. Writing Use Cases
  4. Guidelines for Effective Use Cases

And here is a slide, just as an example:

I am licencing the lecture with creative commons, and you are free to download it, use it and modify it in any way you like. Just don’t forget to give credit! I made sure that the lecture does not contain any copyrighted stuff. Also, don’t forget to comment!

Download UML Use Case Lecture (in PPT).

Enjoy!
